Temperature vs. Latitude in the Southern Hemisphere

A plot of temperature against latitude in the Southern hemisphere

The linear regression for the southern hemisphere also matches what we expect: as we move away from the equator, the temperature will drop. Or, as the plot shows, the closer we get to the equator, the hotter it gets.

For every degree latitude we move from the south pole, the temperature increases by 0.65 degrees Fahrenheit. The difference between this and the change in the Northern Hemisphere can be attributed to the season: because it is closer to winter in the Southern Hemisphere, the change in temperature is less due to the cold.
